Shakira Isabel mebarak Ripoll is Colambian born singer-songwriter, artist, record producer, dancer and philanthropist. She was born on February 2, 1977, in Barrajquilla, Colombia.
Her father is a Lebanese-American immigrant, and her mother was born in Colombia in Italian and also Spanish decent. Shakira started her musical professional at age 12 and easily captured enthusiasts all through Latin America. She won the 2001 Best Latin pop Grammy for his album "MTV Unplugged."

Known for his aggressive approach, with influences of rock, Shakira maintained an extraordinary degree of creative control over their music.
Especially for a female artist, she wrote and co-wrote most of his own material, and in the process gained a reputation as one of the lyricists of Latin music's most ambitious poetic. When it launched its first English material in late 2001, became an instant pop sensation, thanks to its unique poetic sense and a sexy video image built on her hip-shaking belly-dance moves.
Shakira Isabel won the top three awards at the Latin Grammy Awards Thursday including music of the year and record of the year for her smoldering "La Tortura" duet with Alejandro Sanz, and album of the year for "Fijación Oral Vol. 1."
On the red carpet Shakira Isabel told Judy Faber of The Showbuzz, "It's going to be a very emotional night, I think. Just the mere fact that I'm going to be meeting along with so many of my personal friends and colleagues and sharing the stage along with them. It's something, you know?"
She as well earned best female pop vocal album, and her recording team took home honors for greatest engineered album. She was the major nominee going inside to the show with 5 nominations.
She lost best short form video, which gone to Puerto Rico reggaeton group Calle 13. They got home a total of two awards, as did Argentine rock legend Gustavo Cerati.
Earlier in the evening, Shakira sang her ballad "La Pared" seated sweetly on a stool, and after changing into tight leggings and a midriff-baring top she joined Alejandro Sanz for a performance of "La Tortura."

Extensive touring to help Laundry Service led to a long break for the singer, so a remix collection (2002's Laundry Service: Washed and Dried) and a live album (2004's Live & Off the Record) appeared inside lieu of a completely new album. Revitalized, Shakira started the writing process for her next release and soon got 60 songs set to go, some in English, some in Spanish. Twenty of the songs was selected and divided up by language in order to create two different albums. Both appeared in 2005 and both hit the Top Ten, with the Spanish-language album Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1 leading the way in June with a number four placing and the English-language album, Oral Fixation, Vol. 2, following in November at number five. As selling of Oral Fixation began to slow in early 2006, Epic reissued the album in March with a bonus track, "Hip Don't Lie." The newly recorded music went on to best the Billboard Hot 100 chart around June, turning out to be one of the summer's biggest hits and also reviving sales of Oral Fixation as well as Shakira's total back catalog.
